One sentence, marked the way the examiner marks it
Every mistake is either a full mistake (counts 1) or a half mistake (counts ½). Here is one sentence typed with four slips:
Gross speed
Every 5 keystrokes count as one word. 1,750 keystrokes in 10 minutes → 35 WPM
Net speed
With 15 mistake points in the whole test: 35 − (15 ÷ 10) → 33.5 WPM
Error %
15 ÷ 350 × 100 → 4.3%. SSC CHSL allows up to 7% for UR and 10% for other categories.
✓In SSC-style tests you pass when both are true: net speed ≥ the minimum, and error % ≤ what your category allows. Other exams count differently — some cut words for every mistake, some give marks — and each exam card shows its own rule.
General instructions
The same declaration every admit card asks you to read — because a practice test should feel like the real one, down to this.
- The countdown starts the moment you click Start — there is no reporting grace period, exactly like the real test window.
- Keep this tab in focus. Switching tabs or windows during a graded test is logged, the way an invigilator's remark would be.
- Copy-paste and browser autofill are disabled. Only your own typing is scored.
- The on-screen timer is the only official clock. It submits automatically when time expires.
- Mistakes are scored using your exam's own rule — category-based tolerance or flat percentage — never a generic word-count guess.
- This is a practice environment. Results are indicative only and are not an official certificate of eligibility.
